MARYANN's Story
Maryann Schwab, after retiring from her 30-year teaching career with Arlington Public Schools, continued her love and interest in supporting students through her membership in NVADACA. She was a dedicated and active member, serving two terms on the board of directors and as secretary. She was an avid golfer, using that interest to serve as an organizer for NVADACA’s golf tournament, and always played in the tournament. Proceeds of the tournament, always used in support of student scholarships, led Maryann, along with her good friend, Fran Kibler, to coordinate and organize the annual scholarship breakfast. She and Fran directed every aspect of the event, creating a legacy for scholarship breakfasts that continue today. Maryann’s interest in pickle ball led to her involvement in raising awareness for the sport and to her role in the beginning stages of the sport in Northern Virginia.

She relocated to Williamsburg, VA, where she again became very active on the board of directors in her community there. NVADACA is pleased to recognize a deserving scholar athlete in honor of Maryann Schwab, one of NVADACA’s recent pioneers.
